Among many beach days, wooded hikes, sunsets and rises, this summer I set out to; complete a viola record, and compose a piece for an 8 person SATB choir.
The viola album, Knuckle Under, was recorded in July by Marc Goodman.  We had a great time and ate really good sushi.  It is set to be released on vinyl by the Taiga label in the summer of 2014. Bunch of touring to follow…
On November 2nd, my first choir piece, When No One Around You is There, will premier at The Abrons Art Center in New York City.  I focused partly on the effect the body plays in creating and manipulating sound.  The choir is instructed to breath and not breath with mouths both open and closed, sing entire sections tight lipped, and to yawn, many many many times.  I am very curious how this will all turn out.  The first rehearsal is… tomorrow.
